Lake Geneva museum tickets at a glance

The museums around the lake are spread over several towns, so a good plan pairs each one with a walk or a boat ride. Lausanne has the Olympic Museum and the art museums of Plateforme 10, Vevey has Chaplin's World, Geneva has the Red Cross Museum, and Broc, a short trip from the lake, has the chocolate house of Maison Cailler. Most of these places sell tickets online, and several offer an entry that includes an audio guide.

Prices and closing days differ widely, and a few places close on a different weekday than you might expect. The sections below give entry fees from the operators and the days to avoid.

The Olympic Museum

The Olympic Museum is at Quai d'Ouchy 1 in Lausanne. Adults from 16 years pay CHF 20, reduced entry costs CHF 14, and children up to 15 enter free with an adult. It is generally closed on Mondays, with exceptions for public days off and special events. The museum is also closed on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January. The published opening hours differ between sources, so check them before your visit. One ticket includes an audio guide, subject to availability, and is valid on the date you choose. The "1 day" on a ticket is its validity, not the length of the visit. Our Lausanne page shows how to combine it with the old town and the lakefront.

Plateforme 10 exhibitions

Plateforme 10 in Lausanne groups three museums: the MCBA for fine art, mudac for design and Photo Elysée for photography. The large temporary exhibitions cost CHF 15 for one museum and CHF 25 for all three, and anyone under 26 enters free. The combined ticket is valid for 3 months, with one visit to the large temporary exhibition of each museum.

The MCBA is closed on Monday, while mudac and Photo Elysée are closed on Tuesday. The usual hours are 10:00 to 18:00, and on Thursday the museums stay open until 20:00. Special days can differ, so check the calendar before you go.

Chaplin's World in Vevey

Chaplin's World combines the manor, the studio and a park. The combined ticket for adults aged 16 to 59 costs from CHF 24 online and CHF 30 at the door. Children from 6 to 15 pay from CHF 18 online and CHF 22 at the door, and under 6 is free. The park is normally free to enter, except during special events.

From Vevey, bus 212 takes about 15 minutes to the stop Chaplin. If you drive, parking costs CHF 5 per day with an entry ticket. One day trip from Geneva combines Chaplin's World with its studio, the Queen Studio in Montreux and entry to Chillon Castle, with a photo stop in Lavaux. Our Chillon Castle page explains the castle tickets.

Geneva: Red Cross Museum and Palais des Nations

In Geneva, the Red Cross Museum charges CHF 15 or CHF 10 with a reduction, and it is free with the Swiss Travel Pass. It is closed on Monday. The museum is also closed on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January. The Palais des Nations offers a guided visit for CHF 25 for adults from 18 years, and the registration for the access badge is a separate step. You will find more details on our Geneva page.

Maison Cailler in Broc

Maison Cailler is in Broc, outside the lake region, so plan it as a day trip. It is open from November to March from 10:00 to 17:00 and from April to October from 10:00 to 18:00, and it is closed only on 25 December and 1 January. The last tickets go on sale 1 hour before closing. The visit takes 45 to 60 minutes and ends with a tasting. Check the opening hours before your visit. A ticket with a tasting and an audio guide is on offer.
